10/17 Monday

1.. Warm-Up-In your Norman Language Arts Google doc, answer the following question. Make sure to date your post, fully explain your answer, and use complete sentences.

6. Making Inferences-Grab a red Literature book. Read pages 827-829. On a blank piece of paper, answer questions 1-10 on page 830. When you are finished, complete the Making Inferences activity on page 833.

7. Channel One-We are going to watch Channel One news. Afterwards, you are to got to your Social Studies google doc and answer the following questions about the newscast. Remember to use complete sentences, and fully explain your answers.

2. Explain how each story might impact your life. 

8. The Inquisition-Today we will look at one of the worst aspects of the Reformation, the Inquisition.

9.Torture in the Inquisition-Torture was a big part of the Inquisition. Go to myTorture in the Inquisition Google doc and read about the various techniques used for torture during the Inquisition. On a blank sheet of paper, you need to rank the torture methods by how painful you think they would be. For example, whichever technique you think would be most painful would be your number 1 and so on.

1. Article Review-Read the following article . After reading, write a quick review of the article in your Language Arts Google doc. Your review should answer the following questions:

-What was the article's main idea? Supporting details?

-What was one thing about the article that you found fascinating? Explain your answer.

-If you were to rename this article, what name would you choose and why?

2. Context Clues-Being able to use context clues to figure out a word's definition is an extremely important skill when reading. See if you can figure out the definitions of the bolded words.

Liyana felt exhilarated by the skyscrapers. Their glittering lines lifted her out of her worry. She wished she could ride every sleek elevator up and down, punching buttons, seeing who got off and on.

Although pest like mice, cockroaches, and mosquitos sometimes seem to materialize out of thin air, by the 18th century just about everyone agreed that they born from parents of the same species, not from muck or swamp water.

10/12 Wednesday

1. Game Time-Let's get the day started with some games. We have a new game I want everyone to try. It is called Popword. Directions are below:
Play Popword by click-and-dragging across adjacent letters in the grid and releasing the mouse button when you have selected a word. Each successive selected letter must be directly next to the previously selected letter (either horizontally, vertically or diagonally).
If the word you have selected is a valid English word, the letters will 'pop' away and the letters above them will fall to take their place. You score points for each word you pop. Longer words score many more points than shorter words.

7. Social Studies Warm-Up-In your Norman Social Studies Google doc, answer the following
question:

"Who were the Medicis and what was their connection to the Renaissance?"
 
8. Renaissance Art- Head to this link and let's read about how the great artists created sculptures and paintings. As your scan through, write down on a blank piece of paper, ten important facts from your reading. You must not have more than two facts from any paragraph.
