1/13 Monday



1. Warm-Up-In your Norman Language Arts Google doc, answer the following question. Make sure to date your post, fully explain your answer, and use complete sentences.


2. Weekly Vocabulary-Here are your Weekly Vocabulary Words. Take a few minutes to look them over and we will discuss them soon.

3. Vocabulary Word Boxes- This week you will be using all 10 of your vocab. words to create 10 Vocab Boxes. In case you forgot, here are the directions:



4. Inspirational Quotes- Which quote do you think more accurately represents your beliefs? Why? In your Norman Language Arts Google doc,  leave a detailed comment with your thoughts.

5. Summary Review-We are going to take a few minutes to go over the elements necessary to properly summarize a piece of literary text.

6. Summary Practice-You are going to read a short passage and answer some questions which should assess your summarizing ability. Don't forget to take good strong Active Notes (remember to focus your notes on setting, characters, conflict, plot and important events.)

7.  Book Cover Weekly Project-Like we did earlier in the year, you will be creating a book cover. This time instead of your library book, you will be creating a cover for our class novel, The Outsiders. This should be creative and colorful. It should contain what you consider to be the most important elements of your book. It should NOT look like the cover your book already has. On the back of your cover, write a short essay explaining why you chose the images you did. Your cover should contain at least 7 illustrated elements.

8. This Day in History-Go to the following website and look over some of the things that happened on this date in history. Pick 2 things which you think are important and send me an email (Titled: Today in History) explaining why you chose the 2 events that you did. Remember to fully explain your answers. 

9. Quiz-We are going to take a look at the quiz we took on Friday.

10. Greensboro 4- One of the most famous events in the entire Civil Rights movement took place in your own state. The Greensboro 4 stood up for something they believed in and succeeded in changing the entire nation. Sadly, one of the four, Franklin McCain, passed away a few days ago. We are going to take this time to discuss why the group's stand was so important. 

11. NC Write-Head over to NC Write and complete the prompt titled "Being Different."
