11/10 Tuesday

1. Warm-Up-Creative Writing- Look at the following picture. Write a quick short story about the picture. Be creative and try to include some of your weekly vocabulary words.

2. Weekly Vocabulary-This week you have 5 words, so naturally you are to do a 5x5x5.

*Directions: Write each word and its definition five times. When finished, create a paragraph with at least five sentences that uses all five words correctly. Make sure to underline the vocabulary words in your created paragraph.

1. aptitude -- the ability to learn or understand something quickly

2. attentive -- paying careful attention to the concerns of others; being considerate

3. banish -- to force or leave a country or place; exile

4. barricade -- an obstacle used to block

5. bluff -- using a false display of confidence to trick or deceive someone


3. Red Literature Book-We are now going to finish our short story.

4. NC Write-Head over to NC Write and continue working on the prompt titled "Who Am I?". Your essay should be at least 128 words long.

5.Channel One-We are going to watch Channel One news. Afterwards, you are to got to your Social Studies google doc and answer the following questions about the newscast. Remember to use complete sentences, and fully explain your answers.

2. Which story did you find most interesting?

3. What was interesting about this story?

6. Motivations for Exploration
-There were many different reasons why the explorers would risk their lives to travel to completely unknown worlds. You are going to check out the following websites. Using the information you gather from the websites, I want you to write on a blank sheet of paper 5 reasons why explorers were so eager to explore during the Age of Exploration. Also, write at least 10 facts that you learn from the websites.

2. Grammar Fixer-Upper- Please read the following paragraph. It contains many grammar and spelling errors. On a blank piece of paper, rewrite the paragraph. Make sure you fix ALL the grammar and spelling errors.
The RiverTowne Players is starting a Young Actors Academy to their Rising Stars Youh Program? The Academy will offerrr an after-school class that will Train children ages 5 to 15 in musical theater. for three hours each Monday — 5 to 8 p.m. — there will be instruction in acting, dance and voice. The first semester begins Monday, with classes continuing through Decemdber 10. a showcase performance is set for the end of the semester, which will include all the participants of the academy? The fee is $25 per, weekly, session. The classes will be held in RiverTowne’s performing arts home, the historic Masonic Theatre on hancock Street.

3. Age of Exploration-So far we have covered the periods of history known as the Reformation and the Renaissance. Now we are moving on to my favorite period of time! We will spend the next few weeks covering The Age of Exploration.

6. The Inquisition-Today we will look at one of the worst aspects of the Reformation, the Inquisition.

7.Torture in the Inquisition-Torture was a big part of the Inquisition. Go to myTorture in the Inquisition Google doc and read about the various techniques used for torture during the Inquisition. On a blank sheet of paper, you need to rank the torture methods by how painful you think they would be. For example, whichever technique you think would be most painful would be your number 1 and so on.
