Welcome back! The Holiday was awesome, but it is time to re-focus and get back to work!

1. ELA Warm-Up-Answer the following question in your ELA Google doc:
A New Year's resolution is a commitment that an individual makes to a project or the reforming of a habit, often a lifestyle change for the better.
What are three New Year's resolutions you would consider making? Why did you select these resolutions? Do you think you would be able to keep these resolutions for the entire year? Be sure to fully explain your answers.


2. Book Recommendations- I want everyone in class to send me an email recommending 2 books that you have read and loved. You should give a brief description of each book and explain why you loved it so much. Send me you recommendations in an email titled "Last Name-Books" (ex. Norman-Books)

3. Holiday Break-On a sheet of paper, list the top ten things that happened over your Holiday Break. Make sure you write in complete sentences and provide LOTS! of details.

4. NC Write-You are to complete the NC Write prompt entitled 2014 Review. Your essay should be at least 150 words long.

5 Channel One-We are going to watch Channel One news. Afterwards, you are to got to your Social Studies google doc and answer the following questions about the newscast. Remember to use complete sentences, and fully explain your answers.
1. What were the stories on today's newscast?

2. Which story did you find most interesting?

3. What was interesting about this story?

6. Social Studies Warm-Up-Answer the following question in your Norman Social Studies Google doc. Remember to fully explain your answers.

What do you think the term "global trade" means? Explain your answer.

7. Global Trade Market-This week we will be doing our Global Trade Unit. Here are the directions for your Social Studies Weekly Project:

The class will soon be visited by King Jeremy the First from the country of Normania. He is looking to enter into trade with another continent or empire. You and your group will research your assigned continent or empire and use props to represent the items which your area can trade. Your goal is to entice King Jeremy the First into entering into a trading partnership with your group. Every member of the group will speak, and the trade props must be explained. (Example-What is Silk, and why would King Jeremy need it?) Groups must have and present at least 4 trade items. King Jeremy likes to ask questions so BE PREPARED!
